Mailing lists for students
The Association of Computer Science Students maintains a number of mailing lists. This page contains information about these mailing lists and how to use them.
What are the mailing lists for?
The mailing lists you are automatically subscribed to serve as information channels for students. The ones you can subscribe to on your own are a service of certain commissions or of VIS itself.
What mailing lists are there?
The VIS maintains the following mailing lists. These are all moderated by the VIS actuary.

FAQ
How do I subscribe to a mailing list and how do I unsubscribe?
As a student, you do not have to do anything for the automatically generated mailing lists. A few weeks after the start of the semester, after the enrolment deadline, you will be added automatically by the VIS Minister of Information to the correct list. Please do not try to add yourself to those lists.
For the other lists, you need to subscribe yourself if you want to receive mails about the topic. There are two ways to do this:
Use the web interface of the relevant list.
Send an empty email to
listname-subscribe@lists.vis.ethz.ch, replacinglistnamewith the corresponding list name.
To prevent misuse and spam-related requests, every new subscription must be approved by the person responsible for information at VIS. This may take a short while. If you have not received a confirmation for more than a week, it makes sense to get in touch.
To leave a list, follow the same steps and simply replace subscribe with
unsubscribe.
How do I send a mail via the mailing lists?
Please note that only VIS actives should send to these lists. To send a mail to one of the VIS mailing lists, choose the desired list from the table above and send a normal email to the corresponding address.
After approval by the VIS information officer, the mail is forwarded directly to the subscribed students.
